ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY

Professional Qualifications:
    • Licensed and in good standing with the North Carolina State Bar
    • 1 – 4 years law firm experience in sophisticated estate planning, trust and estate administration, and business law matters, as well as a solid understanding of the related estate tax, income tax, corporate, and personal implications for high-net worth individuals
    • Excellent academic credentials and solid law firm work experience, including client interaction, preferred
    • Additional licensure or education, such as South Carolina licensure, LLM in Taxation or CPA a plus

    • Exhibits compassion and empathy for clients facing personal struggles
Duties:
    • Effectively manage a robust caseload by prioritizing tasks and calendared events
    • Draft/review legal documents including wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, and other estate planning documents
    • Draft/review estate administration documents including court filings and accountings
    • Prepare for client conferences including reviewing intake information, financial data, client background and goals
    • Consult with potential clients and conduct client conferences (after a period of orientation and monitored work)
    • Prepare written correspondences to clients, professional advisors, and government agencies
    • Develop case strategies and complete legal research on complex areas of federal and state tax and inheritance laws
    • Achieve billable hour goal: 1,200 – 1,300 hours

Schedule, Compensation and Benefits:
    • Full Time, in-person position (Monday – Thursday 8:00am – 6:00pm; Friday 8:00am -Noon)
